About The Role
We are looking for an experienced CFO with experience in energy and/or infrastructure industries to lead our financial strategy and to play a key role in commercialising our company in our next phase of growth. As a business, we are laser-focussed on improving our technology, reducing our unit economics and building the foundations to support scalable deployment of CO2 mineralisation in multiple countries. We require an experienced, innovative and dynamic finance leader who can play a core role in taking the company to the next level.
The ideal candidate has experience with start-ups, commercialising new technologies, scaling hardware or serviced based companies, energy infrastructure, or asset-heavy businesses, fundraising, and structuring complex projects using project or infrastructure financing. Experience in adjacent industries such as oil & gas,
renewables, mining, geothermal or similar is a plus.
As we try to keep our teams as lean as possible, you will be required to get involved in day-to-day tasks outside of finance as well, especially in the early stages of our business growth.
What You'll Do
• Lead the Finance, & Compliance functions within the business and have some involvement with the Legal function.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive financial strategy to support 44.01’s commercialisation and scaling objectives, ensuring alignment with our long-term vision and business goals.
• Define and own the strategy for all future fundraising efforts of the company, including equity and debt rounds, M&A activity, and future IPO plans.
• Take ultimate responsibility for typical finance deliverables, including:
o Monthly reporting
o Budgeting and forecasting
o Year-end accounts and audit
o Tax strategy and compliance
o Treasury, FX and liquidity management
o Maintaining key bank and external stakeholder relationships
• Implement robust risk management practices to safeguard the company’s financial health.
• Present to the Board and provide updates to shareholders and potential investors on a regular basis.
• Lead efforts to access low-cost capital, including project/debt financing, and build relationships with infrastructure funds, banks, and other financial institutions.
• Assist with the negotiation of complex deals and contracts with major suppliers, customers and financial stakeholders, ensuring the financial viability and sustainability of our projects.
• Build and own the company’s technoeconomic models and be responsible for driving key strategic activities to reduce unit economics.
• Work alongside Team Leads in the business to help them prioritise spending on the highest-impact activities.
Who You Are
• You are passionate about developing new solutions to fight climate change and are committed to having a positive impact on people and the planet.
• 10+ years’ experience of executive and/or leadership roles in similar companies.
Prior CFO experience is preferred.
• Strong financial and analytical skills, with the ability to develop and execute complex financial strategies, make sound financial decisions independently, and present a compelling & comprehensive vision that is grounded in data and rigorous financial modelling.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with demonstrated success in building and managing relationships with key stakeholders, and in leading and developing high-performing teams.
• Understand and are familiar with the benefits of the funding instruments available to start-ups across debt, capital raising and grants.
• Have strong experience with project financing.
• Flexible, pragmatic and willing to assist with duties outside of your domain when required for the business
• You have a growth-oriented mindset and are open to candid feedback with a learning mindset.
